SRINAGAR: On the lines of yesterday’s good news, Jammu and Kashmir Monday witnessed a considerable dip in the number of new Covid19 infections in the last 24 hours with 2237 cases recorded along with a lower death toll at 45 in comparison to 51 yesterday.

However, the Jammu division continued to witnsess more deaths at 29 among the total 45 in the last 24 hours as fresh cases in the region stood at 854.

Kashmir lost 16 citizens with 1383 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, as many as 3999 people recovered which for the second consecutive day is higher than the number of new infections. The total active cases also fell to 45630 from 47437. The recoveries included 1490 cases in Jammu and 2509 in Kashmir.

As per government figures, the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 3609 including 1887 in Kashmir and 1732 in Jammu.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost three citizens in Baramulla, seven in Srinagar, four in Pulwama, one in Ganderbal, and one in Kupwara

Apart from 19 deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost four citizens in Rajouri, one in Doda, three in Kishtwar, and one in Ramban while three died at home or were brought dead to the hospital.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 103 from Baramulla, 221 from Budgam, 77 from Pulwama, 204 from Kupwara, 106 from Anantnag, 77 from Bandipora, 91 from Ganderbal, 169 from Kulgam, and 26 from Shopian. In the summer capital Srinagar, 309 new cases were detected.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 55, Rajouri 66, Doda 43, Kathua 49, Samba 31, Kishtwar 47, Poonch 27, Ramban 47, and Reasi 48. In Jammu, 441 cases were detected in the last 24 hours.
