SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir may has perhaps the lowest death count of the last two months. In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 11 deaths as the new infections surged to 1184 across the 20 districts.

Kashmir lost six citizens and Jammu five in the last 24 hours.

The trend of infected people outnumbering the fully recovered people continues. In the last 24 hours, as many as 2880 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 21817. The recoveries included 996 cases in Jammu and 1884 in Kashmir.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 4101 people including 2108 in Kashmir and 1993 in Jammu.

In the last 24 hours, two deaths each took place in Jammu city and Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost three citizens in Anantnag, and one in Budgam.

Apart from two deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost a citizen from Samba.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 1184 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 245, and Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 75 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 763 cases against 421 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 109 from Baramulla, 89 from Budgam, 84 from Pulwama, 60 from Kupwara, 55 from Anantnag, 37 from Bandipora, 29 from Ganderbal, 42 from Kulgam, and 13 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 27, Rajouri 40, Doda 74, Kathua 35, Samba 22, Kishtwar 12, Poonch 64, Ramban 37, and Reasi 35.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 21817 active cases, which includes 13674 in Kashmir 8143 in Jammu.
