In a statement issued by Polit Bureau member Muralidharan, the CPI(M) said students and traders from Jammu and Kashmir are being targeted in states like Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. In Dehradun, a number of Kashmiri students returned home following threats and an ultimatum reportedly issued by a communal group.

The party also flagged a surge in online hate campaigns targeting Kashmiris and minorities, despite the widespread condemnation of the attack from within the Kashmir Valley.

“These activities are only helping the agenda of the terrorists,” the statement said. “The concerned authorities must take firm action… No leniency should be shown to those who try to divide and disrupt the people’s unity that has been forged.”

The CPI(M) stressed that the unity and collective outrage seen nationwide against the attack must not be undermined by communal elements seeking to create divisions.
