Police Wednesday claimed that it arrested a shopkeeper for cheating a French lady. The accused according to police had stolen the credit card of the tourist lady and subsequently withdrawn Rs one lakh from her account.

Audrina Teodora reported to Police Station Khanyar that her wallet containing credit card of West Pac Bank Australia has been stolen while travelling on Nowpora Sherez road.
SP City said that the said lady again reported to police that same that three thousand Australian Dollars equivalent to Rs one lakh Indian Currency has been debited from her Bank account through her credit card.
“We registered a case vide FIR number 80/2013 U/S 379 RPC, 66C and 66D Information Technology Act and subsequently the concern bank blocked the same credit card,” he said adding that during the course of investigation police station Khanyar recovered and seized the money drawn from the bank fraudulently from the shop of the accused Tahir Ahmad Mir son of Muhammad Maqbool resident of Kooli Pora Khanyar namely Dastigeeri Automobiles Victor Crossing Rainawari Srinagar.
He said that the accused has used the stolen credit card of the French lady and taken an amount of Rs one lakh Indian currency from her bank account of West Pac Bank Australia.
“The swapping machine used for swaping the credit card has been seized. The IP Address and point of sale (PoS) of the use of credit card has been confirmed as Dastigeeri Auto Mobile Rainawari, which is the account of the accused,” he said.
Tahir Saleem told CNS that the complainant lady had requested the police through Email that the amount seized by Police Khanyar be deposited back into her account of West Pac Bank Australia. “The police after seeking permission from the Court according returned the said amount to the Tourist Lady,” he said.
