Luring voters by the star faces, Congress gets in star cricketer and former Indian cricket captain Muhammad Azharuddin for the Islamabad By Polls on the closing day of the election campaign.

Azhar, held three rallies, starting from Fatehpora, and then addressing a gathering at Dialgam, and finally at Khanabal.

Hundreds of people were seen thronging to get a glimpse of the star making the political rally less important. Youth were seen asking for selfies and autographs.

“It looks like people have assembled here for Azhar, rather than, Congress,” said Sajad Ahmad, a youth in the rally at Dialgam.

While Congress leaders were delivering speeches, those who could manage to get close were seen posing with Azhar.20160620_150758

Azhar while seeking votes for Congress’ Hilal Shah said, “You should vote for our Hilal, keeping in view his secular party and his vision for development. This is the way to keep communal forces and their allies at bay.”

Terming collation of PDP with BJP surprising for him he said, “I am surprised how a party of Muslims has aligned with the communal BJP.” “I don’t think they have any plan to work, they are only to fill their boxes and nothing else.”

He also spoke against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “Modi ji has become a foreigner now, he can be seen more in foreign countries. His big promises have proven hollow.”

Azhar further said that they (Government) are not serious about the development of the state. I have been told and have myself seen in the far flung areas what they have done after 2014 floods. Proper roads are yet to be constructed, and bridges are yet in the same state.”

Asking people to vote for the Congress candidate he said, “This is the opportunity for you to achieve your dreams and go against communal elements.”

He was also accompanied by congress state top brass including PCC chief G A MIR.

Pertinently film actor and congress leader Raj Babar also campaigned for his party candidate.
