Officials said an FIR has been registered against Pieary Lal Koul, son of Janki Nath Koul, a resident of Adarsh Vihar, Channi Deeli, Jammu, following allegations of cheating, criminal breach of trust and misappropriation.

According to the complaint filed by a Jammu-based doctor, he had entered into an agreement to purchase a residential plot along with a house at Channi Deeli for Rs 3.75 crore. The complainant alleged that after initially paying a token amount, he came to know that the property was mortgaged with a bank despite being presented as free from any liabilities.

The complainant further alleged that following assurances from the seller, he cleared the pending bank liability and later made payments through bank transactions and cash, taking the total amount paid to around Rs 3.75 crore.

Acting on the complaint, the EOW Crime Branch Jammu registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Officials said the investigation has been launched and documents, including the agreement to sell, bank records, financial transactions and receipts, will be examined as part of the probe.
