The Salamabad Chakoti Traders Union today met senior officials from the administration from Srinagar and presented their long pending demands before them. The meeting which was held at the Salamabad Trade Centre was attended by  President Salamabad Chakoti Traders Union, Javed Ahmad Makroo, Vice President Nazir Ahmad Lone apart from M Iqbal, Irshad Ahmad, Peer Arshad Iqbal, Gh Hassan Lone, Hilal Ahmad Bhat and Mushtaq Ahmad.

The Official delegations comprised DC Baramulla Khwaja Bashir Ahmad, Director Industries and Commerce, Secretary Industries & Commerce, Managing Director SIDCO and other officials.

As per a statement the traders gave a detailed explanation of the problems faced by them apart from putting forth certain suggestions for improving the trade process. Among other issues, the ban on trade of Coconut was discussed and the traders told the official delegation that they had faced losses to the tune of Rs 7 crore due to the ban.

The traders also highlighted their problems with regard to lack of proper communication facilities with the official delegation.

According to the spokesman of the Traders Union, the officials assured them that their problems will be taken up with higher authorities for redressal. The traders expressed satisfaction over the assurance and hoped that the authorities actually resolve their pressing issues.
