SRINAGAR: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his service rifle in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Y Chandra Reddy, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, who was posted with F Company of CRPF’s 18th Battalion in the district.
Officials said Reddy allegedly used his service weapon to shoot himself. He died on the spot following the incident.
The reason behind the extreme step was not immediately known. Officials said further proceedings have been initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
