SRINAGAR: For the successful implementation of new Criminal Laws in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, the Administration has constituted a UT Level Steering Committee.
Headed by the Chief Secretary, JK, the committee shall formulate a time bound roadmap for successful implementation of the three new laws namely Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshaya Abhiniyam (BSA) 2023, in the Union Territory of JK, well before the date of enforcement, which has been notified as Ist of July 2024.
Besides the Chief Secretary, JK as its chairman, Principal Secretary Home Department; Director General of Police, JK or his representative not below the rank of ADGP; Director General of Police (Prisons), JK; Director General of Prosecution, JK; Secretary, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; Judicial Officer to be nominated by the Department of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, in consultation with the High Court of JK and Ladakh and Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, JK will be its members.
