SRINAGAR

The central university of Kashmir in association with Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Srinagar, organised a one-day training programme on the Tamil Language in connection with “Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat,” celebrations on Wednesday.

The university spokesman said Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Dean School of Education and Director Nowgam Campus-I, Prof N A Nadeem, Registrar, Prof  M Afzal Zargar, Dean Students Welfare, Dr Fayaz A Nikka, faculty members and students were also present on the occasion.

The spokesman said India is a diverse country with people belonging to different religious beliefs and cultures, speaking divergent languages, living together as one entity. “The country is so diverse that one can even find multiplicity in language, culture, food habits and even dressing within the States,” Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir said.

The spokesman said in connection with the Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat celebration, the university is lucky to be paired with Tamil Nadu, which is a peace-loving State. He added that the programme would provide an opportunity to the students to exchange the cultural niceties of the Jammu and Kashmir with their counterparts in higher educational institutions of Tamil Nadu.

The University is sending students to one of the universities in Tamil Nadu wherein they would showcase the culture and tradition of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that faculty would also interact with their counterparts in the higher educational institutions of Tamil Nadu.
