The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) under the leadership of its Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir has launched Digitized Online Assessment (DOA) of its students for the first time.

The DOA has been started on pilot basis in two Departments of the University- Education and Information Technology. In the Department of Education, the students of Semester-I MA and M Ed programmes appeared in their online assessment on 13th & 14th January, 2017. This shall be followed by the Department of Information Technology.

It is believed that the system is more efficient in terms of economy of time in conducting and declaration of results. The said DOA being less subjective and more objective shall provide an opportunity to the students to achieve higher scores. It shall also help the students to prepare themselves for NET/SET/JRF, PSC screening tests and other competitive examinations.

The DOA was launched through joint efforts of a team comprising Prof NA Nadeem, Dean, School of Education & Director, IQAC, Dr NA Gilkar, Controller of Examinations, Prof Nighat Basu, Coordinator, Teacher Education Programme, Dr Iqbal Qurashi, Deputy Registrar (ITSS) and Irfan Ahmad Dar, Consultant (ITSS) and Dr Mohammad Sayid Bhat, Assistant professor, Education. It may be mentioned here that earlier in 2016, CUK successfully launched on-line evaluation of teachers by the students. Through this mechanism, the students evaluate their teachers and also provide their feedback on various other aspects of university system. Presently, the University is considering launching of two dream projects which include MOOCS and e-Governance.
