SRINAGAR: The Central University of Kashmir has initiated the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) for students and directed arrangements for opening individual bank accounts through designated branches of the [State Bank of India] in Ganderbal district.

According to an official order issued by the university’s Academic Affairs wing on May 12, 2026, students will be deputed to specified SBI branches under a scheduled process to ensure their enrolment under the government-backed accidental insurance scheme.
To facilitate the exercise, the university administration has instructed Heads and Coordinators of departments to coordinate with the Transport Section for travel arrangements of students visiting the bank branches.
The Academic Section has also been directed to coordinate with SBI authorities for setting up separate counters at SBI Beehama and SBI Tulmulla to ensure the process is completed smoothly and efficiently.
The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) is a government-backed, highly affordable accidental insurance scheme launched in 2015 for Indian citizens aged 18 to 70 years.
