The border security forces (BSF) is devouring on agricultural land of Kashmir along LoC. It is acquiring large amounts of fertile agricultural land and turning it into barren LoC.

According to official sources , land is being acquired for border fencing in districts of samba, Kathua of Jammu division and in Bandipora , Kupwara  and Gurez of  Kashmir division .

As per the records, in district Bandipora, 183 kanals of proprietary land and 157 kanals&16 marlas of state land at 21 locations of Gurez has come under the Loc fencing.

In Tangdhar and Keran sectors of district Kupwara, 97 kanals and 15 marlas of land has come under the border fencing.
In 1952, Karachi agreement was signed that established a ceasefire line between India and Pakistan. The same year UNMOGIP was also established to observe and monitor ceasefire violations on LoC.

In 1972 India and Pakistan signed Simla agreement , defining the line of control along and stating  both sides should respect the line of control and neither side should seek to alter it.

However as per sources vast amount of agricultural land has been used for border fencing, rendering the agricultural land useless and altering the line of control (LoC).
