Curfew is strictly imposed in Jammu on the third consecutive day Sunday, after a mob torched and damaged several vehicles belonging to local Muslims and Kashmiris on Friday following Thursday’s Fidayeen attack on CRPF at Lethpora in which 49 CRPF men were killed.

“Curfew will continue till further orders. We will take a call later in the day after assessing the overall law and order situation,” said an official.

The mobile Internet suspension started on Friday and continued on Sunday, as well.

The speed of fixed-line broadband connections has also been slashed to prevent any form of amplification of the situation given the fact that anti-social elements could upload inflammatory pictures and comments on social media to disrupt peace in the city.

Meanwhile, helplines have been set-up for Kashmiri students and others engaged in business in Jammu and outside the state to ensure their safety.
