Parts of the Srinagar city remained under curfew for the second consecutive day Friday with authorities apprehending trouble after the congregations so Friday prayers were not allowed in Jamia Masjid.

Normal life was affected in parts of Srinagar as the curfew continued in nine police station areas of the city without any relaxation.

Since Wednesday evening ,curfew is in force in Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Safakadal, Khanyar, Rainawari, Nigeen, Lal Bazaar, Zadibal and Parimpora police station areas.

The District Magistrate Srinagar late Wednesday imposed curfew in the nine police station areas of the city after sectarian clashes broke out near Hawal area in the old city.

According to police the situation remained largely peaceful throughout the day after clashes between two communities in Zadibal area of the city on Wednesday.
