Srinagar

A day ahead of Burhan Wani’s second death anniversary, authorities on Saturday imposed curfew in Tral township of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Reports said that police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in strength across the town to prevent rallies marking the second death anniversary of Wani. All entry points to the town have been sealed by the forces to enforce the curfew.

Hizb commander, Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter on July 8, 2016, along with two of his associates in Bomdora village of Kokernag in Islamabad district.

His death had triggered an uprising in the Valley.

Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Yasin Malik has called for a shutdown across the valley and a public meeting tomorrow in Tral.
