KL Report

SRINAGAR

Authorities imposed curfew in the two south district headquarters of Shopian and Kulgam on Sunday to maintain “law and order’.

Official sources told Kashmir Life that there were apprehensions of law and order problems in the two towns so necessary steps were inevitable.

“Early in the morning announcement of the imposition of curfew was made through loud speakers,” locals said.

Four persons were killed by CRPF firing yesterday in Shopian. One of the deceased was today identified as a resident of village Okay, situated near Kulgam.

People in shopian on Sunday morning tried to come on roads and protest against what they call “cold blooded murders of four persons” defying the restriction orders.

Locals informed KL over phone that police and CRPF personnel fired in air and chased the protesters.

District authorities however said that the situation in the town is completely under control and no untoward incident took place today.

Sources said that curfew has also been imposed in Kulgam town. There was however, no immediate official version available about the situation.
