Authorities lifted curfew in Shopian after fifteen days on Sunday. Sources in district administration informed Kashmir Life.

Curfew was imposed in the northern apple town on September 7 after the killing of four persons in CRPF firing at Gagren.

One more person was killed in another firing incident on September 11.

Four persons were identified as civilians among the killed. Police said that one killed was a LeT Militant.

The killings resulted in severe protests in the town after which strict curfew was imposed which continued till Saturday evening.

Though the curfew was lifted today but the shops and business establishments remained closed in the town.

Sources said that the local trade federation, fruit growers association, transporters union and senior citizens are preparing for a joint meeting in which the decision of returning to normal is expected.
