The government has clamped curfew in Srinagar and other parts of the valley on Friday, and the orders are being implemented very strictly.

No movement of public or vehicles is being allowed in district Srinagar. The curfew is in place in almost all the major towns of the valley including Baramulla, Sopore, Kupwara, hanwdara,Pattan,bandipora,Ganderbal,Pulwama,Shopian,Kulgam,Tral,Pampore,Bijbehara,Islamabad etc.

Government on Thursday evening had passed the orders of imposing restrictions “In view of law and order situation and to avoid breach of peace and tranquility and damage to life and property”. Sources said that the government had directed all the district police officers  to implement the order in “letter and spirit”.

Reports from north, south and central Kashmir suggest that large number of police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed to implement the restriction orders. The people were asked to stay indoors early Friday through announcements made from the loud speakers of the mosques and police vanes.

Police official said that with the apprehensions of protests, curfew will remain imposed in all major towns of the valley. “We will take all measures to ensure peace,” he said.
