Various city areas Monday remained under curfew for the sixth consecutive day as a precautionary measure in view of apprehension of clashes between two groups in the old city.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Hazratbal, Abdul Qayoom told KNS that curfew will continue in Zadibal and Nowhatta police station areas and Urdu Bazaar police post area on Tuesday as a precautionary measure.

He said the decision to continue curfew has been taken to prevent clashes and any possible loss of life or property.
The officer said the police were continuously monitoring the situation and that elders from both the communities have been engaged to diffuse any possibility of tension or clashes. He said the people behind the clashes were being identified.
