SRINAGAR: The Cyber Cell of Police District Awantipora has solved multiple cases of online financial fraud, recovering Rs 1,89,238.
Victims reported scams involving fraudulent investment schemes, where they were misled with promises of high returns in exchange for additional deposits.
“Acting swiftly, the Cyber Cell collected evidence and necessary information from the victims. Using advanced cyber techniques, they managed to freeze the fraudulent transactions. The recovered amount was successfully credited back to the victims,” police spokesperson said.
Police urge the public to remain vigilant against online scams, fake SMS credit messages, and unauthorised applications. People should be cautious of video calls from unknown numbers and avoid sharing personal information online.
