Cyber Police Bust Online Scams, Recover Lost Phones, Cash in Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Cyber Cell has solved online money scam frauds and have recovered mobile phones and cash in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir and Handwara area.

“Cyber Cell Ganderbal received applications from the public about online money scams and missing cell phones through online cybercrime portal & offline mode,” a police spokesperson said.

“Futher, on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Sandeep Gupta, the police team of Cyber Cell Ganderbal, dealing with cyber-crimes, has solved online money scam fraud & put on hold/lien Rs.6,20,000/- and refunded Rs.39,900/- to the victim’s account,” he said.

“In addition, the police team recovered 16 missing/lost smart cell phones worth lakhs and recovered 06 hacked social media accounts (Facebook and Whatsapp),” he said.

He also said that the Unit comprises of police officials and Telecom officials who are well trained and deals with various Financial Frauds such as KYC update fraud, OLX fraud, PDD fraud (pending electricity bill fraud), investment-related fraud, fake loan App. fraud etc. and social media blackmailing.

Meanhile, JK Police Cyber Cell Handwara solves an online financial fraud case by tracing and recovering the debited money.

“An online complaint was received by J&K Police Cyber Cell Handwara from one person namely Irfan Ahmad son of Ab Qayoom resident of Maidan Chogul stating therein that he has been frauded with Rs 38511 through UPI payment mode,” he said.

“Acting swiftly, police team of Cyber Cell Handwara traced out the debited money by using the technical skills and recovered the full amount of Rs 38511,” the police said.
