SRINAGAR: Cyber Police Kashmir, Awantipora unit, have successfully recovered Rs 3,26,308/- lost to online financial frauds involving fake investment schemes.
According to officials, the unit received multiple complaints from individuals who were lured into fraudulent schemes promising high returns in exchange for additional deposits. The total defrauded amount across these cases stood at Rs 3,26,308/-.
Acting promptly, the Cyber Cell of Police District Awantipora gathered key evidence and details from the victims. Employing advanced cyber tools, investigators were able to trace and freeze the fraudulent transactions.
The recovered amount was subsequently credited back to the victims’ bank accounts, officials confirmed.
The police have once again urged the public to exercise caution against online scams, including fake SMS messages about credit transfers, unauthorised mobile applications, and unsolicited video calls from unknown numbers. Citizens are advised not to share sensitive personal or banking information over digital platforms.
