Cyber Police Shopian Recovers Rs 63.22 Lakh in Fraud Cases

   

SRINAGAR: Cyber Police Station in south kashmir’s Shopian district has recovered and restored Rs 63,22,792 to victims of various cyber fraud cases during the current year, following completion of all prescribed legal and judicial procedures.

Officials said the recoveries were made through prompt action and professional investigation into complaints involving UPI-related fraud, social media scams, fake loan applications, OTP misuse and other forms of online financial fraud. Immediate action was taken on receipt of complaints, with investigations carried out using technical and digital tools.

Authorities said timely intervention and effective coordination with banks and financial institutions led to suspicious transactions being frozen at crucial stages, preventing further losses and enabling the recovery of defrauded amounts.

The police said the recoveries reflect the sustained efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police in handling cybercrime cases and providing timely relief to victims, in line with directions from higher headquarters.

Members of the public have been advised to remain vigilant, avoid sharing sensitive banking details or OTPs, and report cyber fraud immediately through Helpline 1930 or the cybercrime reporting portal.
