North Kashmir: Authorities Demolish Unauthorised Commercial Structure

   

SRINAGAR: The Municipal Council Sopore on Monday carried out a demolition drive against an illegally constructed shopping complex in the Amargarh Bypass area of Sopore town in north Kashmir, as part of its ongoing efforts to enforce urban planning norms.

Officials said the operation was executed by a Municipal Council team under the directions of the Chief Executive Officer. The unauthorized commercial structure was found to be in violation of approved building norms and was subsequently demolished.

Speaking to media persons during the drive, a senior Municipal Council official urged the public to strictly avoid raising structures without prior approval from the concerned department. He said that citizens must obtain all required legal permissions before undertaking any construction activity.

The official further warned that the department would adopt a zero tolerance approach towards violations. He said strict action would be taken against anyone found indulging in unauthorized construction in the future.

According to officials, the demolition drive forms part of sustained efforts by the local administration to regulate urban development, prevent encroachments and curb illegal constructions in Sopore town. [KNT]
