DAK demands action against people misusing social media

Srinagar

Doctors Association Kashmir(DAK)  President Dr Suhail Naik demanded stringent action against those miscreants who are misusing the social media in the name of freedom of expression.

Dr Naik said that “since past few days some social miscreants have used the social media tool to defame doctors due to some personal animosity and to gain cheap publicity which has, in turn, compromised the security of the doctors”

He further said, “recently a paediatrician was defamed by one of the patient’s attendants and had posted his contact no. on his social media handle which compromised the security of that doctor as he received a lot of threats by the public after that incident, in another incident a multipara pregnant lady had precipitated delivery which too was blamed on the doctors by again using the social media platform”.

He further said that “though in a democratic setup one has the full freedom to express himself this “freedom of expression” is not absolute,it comes with a responsibility, there are proper forums for lodging complaints if someone is having an issue but can’t defame a person and try to run a parallel judiciary and law enforcement department using social media handles”.

DAK demands strict action against these anti-social elements of the society as per the cybercrime law by taking the suo moto cognisance of the matter, police should lodge a formal FIR against these notorious persons.
