SRINAGAR: Authorities on Thursday said that the Daksum–Sinthan road stretch has been closed due to icy conditions as a precautionary measure.
Official of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd said, due to the formation of ice on the road surface, the Daksum–Sinthan road stretch has been closed to all vehicular traffic in the interest of public safety.
The prevailing icy conditions have made the carriageway extremely slippery and unsafe for movement.
To mitigate the situation and restore safe traffic conditions, sprinkling of salt and urea is currently in progress, he added. (GNS)
