Dalai Lama’s 91st Birth Anniversary Celebrated With Fervour at Jivetsal in Leh

   

SRINAGAR : The 91st birth anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was celebrated with devotion, enthusiasm and grand festivities at Jivetsal, Choglamsar, in Leh on Tuesday.

Organised by the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Leh, the event witnessed the participation of thousands of devotees from across the region who gathered to offer prayers, celebrate the spiritual leader’s life and seek his blessings.

Addressing the gathering, His Holiness highlighted the importance of faith and compassion in everyday life. He said deeply rooted spiritual and religious values help individuals overcome greed, attachment and other worldly afflictions, enabling them to lead more meaningful, harmonious and peaceful lives.

The celebration was attended by Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh Ashish Kundra, Administrative Secretary Bhanu Prabha, senior government officials, religious leaders and community elders.

During the programme, His Holiness presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Administrative Secretary Bhanu Prabha in recognition of her contributions towards strengthening and reforming the education sector in the Union Territory.

The celebrations also featured a series of cultural performances by students of TCV Leh, along with local Ladakhi and Tibetan artistes, who showcased the region’s cultural heritage through traditional dances and musical performances.

The event concluded with a theatrical presentation of “Angulimala,” bringing to a close a day marked by spiritual reverence, cultural celebrations and community participation.
