Tourism Holds Key To J&K’s Growth, Says Omar After Meeting Stakeholders

   

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday met representatives from Jammu and Kashmir’s travel, tourism and business sectors at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar and discussed measures aimed at strengthening tourism promotion, improving business facilitation and boosting economic growth.

A delegation of leading travel and tourism bodies, including Irshad Ahmad from TAAI, SKÅL International Kashmir President Zahoor Qari, Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) Chairman Burhan Misgar and TASK President Waseem Goosani, apprised the Chief Minister about key issues concerning the tourism sector.

The representatives discussed challenges faced by the industry and suggested measures to increase tourist arrivals, improve ease of travel and enhance the overall visitor experience. They also shared recommendations to further promote Jammu and Kashmir as a preferred tourism destination.

The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the government remains committed to creating a supportive environment for the tourism industry, describing it as a crucial contributor to economic growth and employment generation in the Union Territory.

He said the concerns and suggestions raised by stakeholders would be examined and addressed in coordination with the concerned departments in a time-bound manner.

Later, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce Secretary General Tariq Ghani also met the Chief Minister and discussed issues related to trade, tourism and the business community.
