SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir authorities have restricted the movement of goods carriers on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) on October 31 and November 1 in view of the annual Darbar Move from Srinagar to Jammu.
According to the traffic advisory, the movement of up heavy and medium motor vehicles (HMVs/MMVs) carrying goods from Jakheni in Udhampur towards Srinagar will remain prohibited on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Additionally, goods carriers will not be allowed to proceed from Jakheni towards Ramban, Banihal, Srinagar and other destinations, or from Qazigund towards Banihal, Ramban, Udhampur and other destinations, after 2 am on October 31 and November 1.
The restrictions will apply during the intervening nights of October 30–31 and October 31–November 1, respectively.
However, down heavy motor vehicles travelling from Qazigund towards Jammu will be permitted to move in a regulated manner.
The advisory has urged operators of heavy and light motor vehicles carrying fresh and perishable goods or livestock to plan their loading accordingly, keeping the restrictions in view.
The restrictions have been imposed to facilitate the smooth movement of the Secretariat employees’ convoy from Srinagar to Jammu during the Darbar Move.
