SRINAGAR: Nearly one lakh devotees from different parts of Kashmir gathered at the Dargah Hazratbal shrine on Friday following Meraj-ul-Aalam (SAW) to participate in special prayers.
The congregation reflected the deep-rooted faith and devotion of the people, who visited the shrine to seek blessings.
Devotees, including men, women, and the elderly, began arriving at the shrine from the early hours of the morning.
The holy relic was displayed after the Friday prayers and the atmosphere turned emotional, with many breaking into tears.
Ghulam Ahmad, an elderly devotee from Baramulla said, “This is a blessed occasion, and coming here fills my heart with immense peace. Seeing the holy relic is a spiritual experience beyond words.”
The shrine echoed with the recitation of Quranic verses, Darood, and Naats as thousands engaged in prayers, seeking mercy and guidance.
Religious scholars and clerics delivered sermons highlighting the significance of Meraj-ul-Aalam, reminding the faithful of the Prophet’s (PBUH) journey and its lessons for humanity.
Wahid Bhat, a devotee from Tral, said he makes it a point to visit Hazratbal every year on this occasion. “It is a day of blessings, and witnessing the holy relic strengthens our faith,” he said.
Meanwhile, authorities ensured smooth conduct of prayers, with security personnel deployed in and around the shrine. Traffic management plans were also in place to facilitate devotees, an official said. (KNO)
