Intense clashes erupted after funeral prayers of slain Chattabal youth was held in Eidgah on Wednesday afternoon.
Eye witnesses said that forces lobbed scores of tear gas canisters to disperse off the people who were on way home from Eidgah near Safa Kadal bridge.
“Intense clashes are going between youths and forces,” witnesses said. “The forces action triggered stone pelting in the area,” they added.
When contacted sources in SMHS said a few injured persons were brought to the hospital. “I can’t give you exact details as intense tear gas shelling is going on just outside the main gate of the hospital,” they said, “but, yes a few injured have been brought here.”
Meanwhile, an ambulance rushed to SMHS from Lethpora via Lal Chowk ferrying pellet injured. Clashes erupted in Lethpora as well after a youth was killed by a JKP cop last late evening. Another youth is battling for his life in SKIMS Soura.
“Two pellet injured persons were shifted to OT (Operation Theatre),” the sources said, “they have been hit by pellets in eyes.”
