Hundreds of women are attending a pro-freedom-cum-unity rally in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.

Reports and eye witnesses said that hundreds of women led by Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) leaders are attending the rally in Yamrush Yaripora in Kulgam.

The program started at 10:30 AM in a local Eidgah.

“The DeM leaders sought immediate release of political prisoners and hundreds of youths,” an eye witness said. He added that the pro-freedom leaders castigated the government for “ransacking of homes and damages to other public property”.

The rally is scheduled to conclude at a local Martyrs Graveyard later.

Meanwhile, army soldiers on Tuesday resorted to aerial firing to foil a pro-freedom rally at a Pulwama village.

A rally was proposed in Rahmoo village of Pulwama in south Kashmir, however, men Rashtriya Rifles (RR) used force to foil it.

“As soon as people started assembling in Rahmoo village forces resorted to tear gas shelling and aerial firing to disperse them resulting in clashes,” reports said.
