#Day103: Pro-Freedom Rally Ends, Clashes Erupt In Soibugh

Soon after a pro-freedom rally ended in central Kashmir’s Soibugh area, intense clashes erupted in the area.

Local reports and eye witnesses said that thousands of people attended a pro-freedom rally in Soibugh today which started around 10 AM. “People from adjoining areas had come despite restrictions imposed by forces,” local said.

They added that local resistance leaders addressed the people who asked them to “remain steadfast”. “People were impressed upon to follow the resistance leadership.”

At the end of the freedom rally, people offered Namaz-e-Zuhr, Jamia Masjid Soibugh. The rally was hled in main chowk Soibugh.

“The youths had blocked roads to stop men in uniform to enter the village,” locals said.

“However, forces came in vehicles and fired tear gas shells and resorted to aerial firing to disperse off the people,” they added.

“Youths responded to the forces action with intense stone pelting,” the locals said.

Clashes were going when tis report was filed.

Meanwhile, reports said that a matting shop was set ablaze when unknown persons lobbed a petrol bomb inside it in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

“Some shops had opened but now there is complete shutdown after the incident in which the shop was completely damaged,” local sources from Kupwara said.

The incident took place around 10:30 AM at Kupwara Bypass.
