The bus that goes to Muzaffarabad every week was cancelled for the second consecutive week, official sources said. The immediate reasons for cancellation are the heightened tensions at the LoC. In Mendhar sector, two ladies were injured after Pakistani Rangers allagedly fired mortar shells.

Though most of the Kashmir borders are silent, heavy shelling exchange was reported between India and Pakistan in Poonch sector. Poonch is contagious to Uri sector. Poonch and Uri host the routes to Pak, both for trade and travel. Reports about shelling very received from Balakot belt.

Though the rival armies were fighting each other on International Border in Jammu and parts of LoC in Poonch and Rajouri, the tensions erupted in Kashmir in Machil, Keran and Karnah sectors. There were at least two casualties to the army and the BSF in the belt as various civilians were also injured.

Two ladies were critically injured in heavy mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar area of Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports said that a mortar shell landed near the Rubina Kousar and she received splinter injuries. “She is critical.”

Another injured woman was identified as Tasveer Bi. Both are residents of Bassoni village.

Interestingly, the LoC trade and travel has, by and large, remained un-impacted by the tensions between two countries. Even the “surgical strikes” did not impact it. But now the flare up has started impacting the only Confidence Building Measure (CBM) that is in operation since April 7, 2005.

The bus could not go to the Kaman Post last week as well because Muzaffarabad administration was busy celebrating the Youm-e-Tasees, the raising day of PaK which is being observed on October 24, every year.
