Police on Wednesday said that they recovered a male body with gunshot marks in Pattan area of Baramulla district this morning.
Police recovered a body later identified as of Zakir Hussain Badoo, son of Ghulam Ahmad Badoo, resident of Mehmoodpora, Pattan on the outskirts of his residential village, this morning.
The body has gunshot wounds in the chest. Post-mortem of the deceased is being conducted.
Police have registered a case and investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, reports said that forces on Wednesday defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected militants on a roadside in the Kashmir Valley, averting a major tragedy.
“A major tragedy was averted when the security forces detected and defused an IED planted on the road in Tutigund area of Handwara” in north Kashmir Kupwara district, reports said.
