A fresh three-week training programme for 50 aspiring entrepreneurs including 14 women Tuesday started at Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), District Centre Kathua.

The three-week Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) under Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) was inaugurated on Tuesday at JKEDI District Centre, Kathua by Deputy Director Employment, DC Bhatti, a statement issued by ED said this evening.

58 educated unemployed youth had registered for the training programme out of which 50 candidates from various tehsils and blocks of Kathua district shall be imparted the training in the first phase.

The three-week EDP is modelled for manufacturing, services and agri-allied sectors. 20 candidates are desirous to start their ventures in agriculture and allied sectors while the rest have opted for manufacturing and services sector.

Speaking at the inauguration, Bhatti appreciated the role of JKEDI and called upon youth to take proper advantage of various employment related schemes so that problem of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir can be addressed.

The EDP is a 21-day programme in which subject matter specialists from various line departments will be invited to interact with the candidates.

Bhatti was told that J&K Bank plays a significant role in helping the youth to start their ventures. The programme ended with vote of thanks from Programme Coordinator, Goutam Saini.
