Markets opened in Srinagar on Tuesday evening following the call of united resistance leadership’s call to open markets after 6 PM during shutdown days.
Businessmen had resumed their work on Monday as well in Lal Chowk but police had stopped them.
In the on-going civil uprising, the Hurriyat leadership has asked to resume normal lives only after 6 PM every day after day’s complete shutdown in protest to civilian killings.
Shops and other business establishments in Lal Chowk, Regal Chowk and other markets of summer capital were opened and the movement of vehicles increased manifold.
As Muazin called for Maghrib prayers this evening, hundreds of people gathered in main Rainawari chowk and offered the prayers in open. “Soon after the prayers, people started raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans,” an eye witness said.
Amid anti-India and pro-Pakistan sloganeering, the people started marching towards Khanyar Chowk.
