#Day25: Numberdars Asked Play ‘Constructive Role In Maintaining Normalcy’

Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah Tuesday met Numberdars and Chowkidars from various blocks of the district and sought feedback on the pace of various “on-going developmental activities” in their respective areas.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the administration is making ways and means to empower the institutions of Panchayat Raj which is function at the grass-root levels, an official spokesperson said this evening.

Impressing upon the functionaries of every department to involve the local representatives in decision making, the Deputy Commissioner said that their involvement would go a long way in effective public deliverance and proper utilization of funds.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the Numberdars and Chowkidars to play a constructive role “in maintaining peace and normalcy in the district by involving locals especially youth in the developmental processes”.

Taking strong note of illegal conversion of land and cultivation of hemp and poppy, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officers of Revenue Department to work with police and other departments and conduct regular drives to destroy the crop of poppy and initiate legal action against the cultivators.

Among others, the meeting was attended by officers of Revenue and other line departments.
