One of the several persons injured in Lethpora firing has been admitted to SKIMS Soura.

Sources in the hospital said, “one person, namely Suhail Ahmad Wani, was brought here late Tuesday evening.”

Clashes are going on Lethpora area in Pulwama district as dead body of another youth Farooq Ahmad Kuchay lays on Srinagar-Jammu highway. A cop opened fire when protestors from highway village tried to stop a Scorpio he was boarding.

He opened fire killing one and injured several others.

Police sources said that the cop who fired upon the people was PSO of ADC Ramban.

“We had advised ADC Babu Ram from moving ahead on Srinagar-Jammu road from Sempora and protests were going on at Lethpora,” a top official said, “but he didn’t accept our suggestion.”

“It is our SOP that after deployment is removed in the evening from Srinagar-Jammu highway, we don’t allow any official to proceed beyond Sempora (near EDI) till we have full reports that the road is clear,” the official said.

The official said that after the ADC drove towards Ramban he was stopped by protestors at Lethpora. “They tried to beat him when PSO opened fire,” the official said.

Meanwhile, top official sources said that government is mulling to lodge a murder case under section 302 of RPC against the ADC Ramban.

When Kashmir Life contacted MS SKIMS, Dr Farooq Ahmad Jan, to know the health status of Suhail, he said, “I am not authorised to talk (about such issues). Better contact Police Control Room Srinagar.”
