Kishtwar Candle Light on August 04, 2016In order to show its solidarity with the people of Kashmir given the mass uprising in Valley since popular Hizb commander Burhan Wani was killed at Kokernag area of South Kashmir on July 8, 2016, people of Kishtwar district after observing complete day shutdown on Thursday continued their protest condemning the use of brutal force on innocent civilians resulted into the killings of at least 54 civilians wounding over 5000 people.

As per the details available with Kashmir Life, several youths of Kishtwar after evening prayers held a big candle light and Mashaal procession under the leadership of Hurriyat leader Molvi Abdul Qayoom Mattoo.

The protesting youths raised anti-India, pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan slogans and displayed their “commitment and support to on-going uprising in Kashmir”.

Earlier today, loudspeakers were used by the protesters at various places in Kishtwar district playing pro-Azaadi songs and songs praising Burhan Wani.

Thursday’s situation was not even witnessed in any part of Kishtwar district and its surrounding areas including Doda district during peak militancy in late 90s and 2000s.

The protesters using loudspeakers play the songs praising Burhan Wani and advocating pro-Pakistan sentiments.

Later, after day long protest, the strike call was extended till Friday.

While addressing the media persons, pro-freedom leader Molvi Abdul Qayoom Mattoo sought implementation of UN resolution on Kashmir and demanded bringing an end to use of forces against the innocent civilians.

He said that the use of pellet guns should immediately be stopped besides he asked the government to provide treatment to injured persons.

He said that the government should immediately being tri-party talks so that the demand of freedom as demanded by the people of Jammu and Kashmir could be addressed and fulfilled.

He said that call for shutdown has been extended till Friday.

Today’s shutdown is the 3rd strike since the uprising erupted in Kashmir valley post Burhan killing.
