As Kashmir is witnessing a renewed mass civil uprising, the right wing Hindu nationalist BJP is holding a two-day workshop in J&K to “set the agenda for dialogue”.
The Tribune reported on Friday that BJP’s Kashmir-point man Ram Madhav along with some “intellectuals” will conduct the two-day brain-storming session to set agenda for the talks which be held at picturesque Patnitop area of the Jammu division on August 6 and 7.
Intellectuals from different parts of Indian will come and sit together and “discuss” prevailing situation in the Valley.
The two-day meeting will be held under the banner of India Foundation, a think-tank comprising journalists, thinkers and intellectuals, who are known for their inclination towards the BJP and affiliated organisations, the report said.
Ram Madhav is the one of the members of the Board of Directors of India Foundation.
“The objective of holding this conclave was to discuss all issues with the ‘like-minded’ intellectuals to evolve consensus on some contentious issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir before bringing separatists on table,” the report quoting sources said, “a group within the BJP is of the view that the stalled dialogue process with separatist groups of Kashmir should be started to engage such forces. The coming meeting of India Foundation is first step in this direction to do homework before initiating dialogue process on the vexed Kashmir issue.”
The report added that four Union ministers belonging to the BJP — Suresh Prabhu, Nirmala Sitharaman, Jayant Sinha and MJ Akbar — are on the board of India Foundation so they are expected to participate in the conclave.
