Protests and rallies were held in South Kashmir’s Islamabad at various places on Friday.

Correspondent reports said soon after congregational Friday prayers ended, people came out on roads and started pro-freedom sloganeering.

In Fateh Pora area of Islamabad, people took out a protest march via Ka’aba Marg up to main chowk Larki Pora. “They burnt down an effigy of CM Ms Mehbooba Mufti,” local sources said.

Fateh Pora is last village of Islamabad constituency.

Strict curfew is in place across Kashmir to thwart any civilian movement towards Dargah Hazratbal.

The reports from Islamabad said that strict curfew is in place and people are staying home. “There was minor movement of faithful towards Masjids for congregational Friday prayers as people are not being allowed to move out,” reports said.

In Eidgah Ashaji Pora area in the nearby town of Islamabad, people held a rally where massive pro-freedom demonstration was held. On the other end, another rally was held in Dialgam in which people from adjoining areas participated.
