In another instance of police firing another young man has lost his life, this time in Khan Sahab, police said.

Though his identity was not immediately known, he is reportedly a resident of Yarikhah in Beerwah belt.

He has been identified as Sameer Ahmad Wani.

He was one of the two bullet hit persons rushed to the SHMS – one with leg injury and another with abdomen injury. The latter has been declared brought dead.

Reports from Khan Sahab said that tensions were rising in the remote mountainous town after section within the town resisted peripheral belts coming in procession to the town.

There were some brawls last Friday on this count.

This Friday, reports said, a large gathering descended down the town.

They damaged some public infrastructure and also carried out an attack on the house of local lawmaker and former minister Hakim Yasin.

Later, the two police and the crowds fought pitched battles.

The number of the injured was not immediately known but police confirmed that two bullet hit were evacuated to the SMHS in Srinagar, of whom one died.

Reports from neighbouring Beerwah said that a large gathering was reported in the town that fought with forces in which pellets guns were used.

Army also accompanied the forces but they fired in air.

Reports said that around 15 pellet injuries were shifted out of town and most of them were treated near Gundipora.

Reports reaching from SMHS Srinagar said that intense clashes have erupted outside the hospital. “People in and around the hospital tried to offer Nimaz-e-Jinazah of the slain Beerwah youth,” reports said.
