Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar Sunday visited various centres in Srinagar where civil services examination-2016 was conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The Minister visited the examination centres at SP College Srinagar, Women’s College, M A Road and S P Higher Secondary School here to personally take stock of the arrangements made by the concerned authorities for the smooth conduct of the prestigious examination, which facilitates entry in premiere services like IAS, IFS and IPS, an official spokesperson said this evening.
The Minister was informed that 16082 aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir had registered for civil services (prelims) examination-2016, with 5912 from Kashmir and 10170 from Jammu. While 1704 candidates appeared in today’s examination in Kashmir, 3634 appeared in Jammu.
He was informed that adequate arrangements of transport and other logistics were made by the various Departments and the District Development Commissioners for facilitating downloading of the admit cards and hassle-free movement of the students to their respective examination centres.
The Minister hailed the efforts of the State Public Service Commission, the Education Department, the Divisional Administrations and the District administrations for facilitating smooth conduct of the civil services examination.
The Education Minister said it was heartening to note that scores of youth from Jammu and Kashmir are now qualifying the prestigious civil services examination every year and making to coveted positions through IAS, IFS and IPS.
