Intense protests erupted in North Kashmir’s Sopore on Sunday against nocturnal raids.

Correspondent reports said police raided a few localities on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday around 2 in the AM.

“At least two youths were arrested,” they said, “some youths fled for safety.”

The arrested duo was identified as Mashid Ahmad, s/o Mohammad Ashraf Parray and Rameez Ahmad who works with Vodafone.

“On Sunday, police again came around 2:30 PM and damaged window panes of many houses.

“Youths made announcements in Masjids asking people to come out on roads against the police raid,” local reports said, “and in meantime large number of women took out a rally amid pro-freedom slogans.”

The local reports added, “youth fled the area and many jumped in to Jhelum to evade arrests.”

The reports said that the forces damaged window panes of Masjid-e-Sidiq (RA) in the areas well.
