Hundreds of people on Sunday offered Asr prayer on road in Nowgam area of Srinagar, in protest against the on-going killing spree and other brutalities “unleashed by forces in Kashmir”.
Following the program given by united pro-freedom leadership, the residents of Nowgam offered prayers in open at Jamia Chowk, Nowgam.
“Prayers offered in open showed support and unification among people for the current movement,” a local said.
Special supplication prayers were also held “urging Allah to end the on-going cycle of violence in Kashmir”.
The elders of the locality also urged youths to follow peaceful means to register their protests and show discipline while dealing with the commuters.
The prayers was attended by thousands of residents of different localities including Nowgam, Naikbagh, Banapora, Methan and other areas of Srinagar’s uptown.
Later, a peaceful march was also taken by youths and elders together and pro-freedom slogans were chanted on the public addressing system.
