Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti has profound grief and sorrow over the demise of noted Islamic scholar Moulana Ashraf Andrabi who passed away at his residence at Zadura, Pulwama today. He was 90.

In her condolence message, the Chief Minister said that the demise of a very distinguished and respected Islamic scholar Moulana Ashraf Andrabi is a great loss to the society, an official spokesperson said Tuesday evening.

She said Moulana Ashraf Andrabi was a great religious luminary and a pious soul, who worked for peace, harmony and brotherhood apart from preaching religious and humanistic values.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Moulana Ashraf Andrabi was the head of Ahl-e-Sunnat, Jammu and Kashmir and the founder and Chief Patron of Shah-e-Hamadan Trust Pampore.

He was also the patron of Dar-ul-Uloom Gousia Hamdania Monghama, Pulwama.

Moulana Ashraf Andrabi had his education from Lahore in Pakistan and Deoband, UP.

Meanwhile, Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu has also condoled the demise of Moulana Ashraf Andrabi and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
