The State Government has formulated an action plan for Rs 485 crore under the centrally sponsored flagship programme – Swachh Bharat Mission.

This information was given at a high level review meeting convened here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan, an official spokesperson said Tuesday evening.

The meeting was informed that annual Action Plan for Rs 485 crore under Swachh Bharat Mission has been approved for undertaking activities including construction of over 3 lakh individual household toilets, 1276 Common Facility Latrines and 319 Solid Liquid Waste Management Plants in the State.

The meeting was apprised that Rs 32 crore have been made available for distribution among the beneficiaries for undertaking construction of toilets in the State.

The Minister directed the officers to take measures to execute the plan and achieving the targets within the set timeline. The implementation period for SBM is initially five years, i.e. up to 2019.

The meeting was also informed that in district Anantnag, a solid waste management plant has almost been completed and that the waste shifted here shall be transformed into usable gas.

Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and other officers were present in the meeting.
