DG Durga Prasad is at once again. Known for raking controversies with his wordplay, the head of CRPF has triggered fresh controversy by equating pellet-blinding with wife-beating.
When asked by an interviewer of Dainik Bhaskar—when would CRPF stop using pellet guns in Kashmir—DG Durga Prasad was quoted saying: “It’s like asking when would you stop beating your wife.”
Before raking up the fresh controversy, the CRPF boss had previously denied disbanding pellet guns as crowd-controlling “non-lethal” weapon—despite the controversial firearm piling up hundreds of blinds besides killing three persons in current protests in valley.
When last quoted, the ‘red-faced’ DG Prasad had tendered “apology” for his “inappropriate” remark.
